As Apple’s new iPad Air jet streams into people’s Christmas wish lists, other manufacturers are keeping the competition tough for the new iPad with more affordable tablets. Charlie talks about two new tablets from Toshiba and Microsoft that may give Apple a run for its money.
First one up is the Toshiba Encore, an 8-inch tablet that packs a punch thanks to Windows 8.1 with pre-installed Microsoft Office productivity suite. The $400 machine is best for students and can be hooked up to a monitor and be used as a regular PC.
Also on the show today is Microsoft’s new Surface Pro 2 tablet which was launched last week. It also packs Windows 8.1 and a detachable keyboard and costs over $1000.
