Had a great time on 2GB on Saturday morning. We spoke to Andrew Feneley from Harvey Norman, who amongst other things is their printing specialist. He gave some sage advice on several fronts including that you could buy a black and white laser printer for $29 at the moment; that you can now buy consumer (as opposed to business) printers that have separate cartridges for different colours and therefore are cheaper to run; the ability of a lot of these printers are wireless so you can print from your smartphone or tablet.
We also talked about multi-function printers and how much they cost – you can get something like an Epson printer for about $199, which isn’t too bad.
Then there was the ability to set up your printer to your wireless device and how easy it is to do. Andrew said all the mainstream printers made it very easy to connect these days.
Also talked about a couple of parental control apps, called Kids Place and another one called Android Parental Control.
Had a very good with David Woodbridge from Vision Australia about how people with vision issues can use their tablet and/or smartphone. If you have any questions, or want to talk to people from Vision Australia, you can either phone them on 1300 84 74 66, or email them on [email protected], or you can follow David himself on @dwoodbridge. David is always testing out new technology for the visually impaired.
