We are having a BBQ on the weekend and as well as making sure we have enough meat, salad, drinks and desert, it has been brought to my attention that a couple of my mates are also looking forward to a show and tell of the new iPad.
Now I’d be lying if I didn’t throw the odd device at a mate and say, ‘that thing you were having a problem with will be solved with this’ to help them with their life and technology. Often technology forms part of the conversation around the BBQ with a beer in hand, and tongs in the other. Of course I am happy to chat from dawn to dusk on my opinions on this stuff, but this time it is different.
This time, following the group email that went around with the usual info – time, what to bring, any dietary requirements etc etc – a note came back with a ‘will you have the new iPad for me to look at’? Reading the replied note my phone rang and it was another mate. He said, ‘hey, saw you on Nine talking about the new iPad, will you have one for me to look at next weekend’? I informed said friend that I would have both the iPad 2 and the ‘all new iPad’ for him to try out.
I did begin to think this was starting to look like a scene from a Tupperware party. I had a vision of all of us sitting in a circle and me starting the event with ‘Hi, I am Charlie and this is the all new iPad, I have three things to show you about this product today and at the end I have a number for you to call at the local Harvey Norman to check stock and purchase…..’
