This week we invited Chris Simon, Territory General Manager from Optus. Chris shared about Mobile phone networks, their resilience during events (like flood or fire) and the type of equipment that is utilised at short notice to ensure those networks continue to operate.
We also invited Stephen Kho, Cybersecurity Expert/Ethical Hacker from Avast.
Avast, a global leader in digital security and privacy, has discovered more than 200 new fleeceware applications on the Apple App Store and the Google PlayStore. The apps have been downloaded approximately one billion times and accrued over $400 million in revenue so far. Australia ranks as the top affected country with over 10 million downloads of these fleeceware apps, across iOS and Android, costing Australians over $9.9 million. Avast has reported the fleeceware applications to both Apple and Google for review.
These fleeceware applications are actively advertised on major social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok which is making children vulnerable.
