Life & Technology – 2GB 20th September, 2015

Following Vodafone and Optus’ new smartphone plans with 20GB of data, Telstra has joined in the data war with its own 25GB plan, priced at AUD$195. The high price does however mean that any phone you buy will come with no monthly handset repayments, even if you’re looking at 128GB units of the iPhone 6s Plus or Galaxy S6 Edge. Click here a breakdown of what's included.

After months of beta testing, Apple released iOS 9 to the public this week. While iOS 7 and 8 were seen as major updates to the operating system in terms of features, design and functionality, iOS 9 is built around performance and stability. It’s a refinement rather than a revolution. This does however mean that all iPhones and iPad running iOS 8 can upgrade to iOS 9. This is notable as Apple has typically always left one or two device behind with each new operating system. Click here for more on what's new in iOS 9.

When I was in Berlin for the IFA technology convention earlier this month, Toshiba's brand new Satellite Radius 12 was one of the notebooks that stood out to be. Netgear's brand new Nighthawk X4S was another device we talked about on both CyberShack TV and Life & Technology this week. If you want to know more, click here for the video!

Vodafone has a new way for subscribers to buy smartphones. On a plan, but without a plan. Essentially, you can buy a brand new flagship and pay it off over as long as three years, interest free. This could be a great option if you prefer BYO plans. Click here for more information about the offer.

Microsoft has confirmed that it’s holding a pretty big event in early October to show off its next batch of Windows 10 devices. We're expecting to see the first Lumia Windows 10 smartphones, and the Surface Pro 4. Click here for more information.
