Life & Technology – 2GB 7th June, 2015

It’s official; Windows 10 will be available on July 29! If you already own a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 machine you’re eligible for a free update – essentially, if you’ve bought a computer in the last six years you don’t have to pay.

In other operating system news, Google has just announced Android M, the latest version of its smartphone and tablet operating system. We don't know when it will be available yet, but we know a few things about it; Android M will be focused on polish rather than new features, and aims to refine the Android experience. There still will be a few new features, including one called Doze that will be able to increase the standby time of Android devices.

Lenovo just announced a couple of new laptops that it will be bringing to Australia, albeit of the budget variety. Click here for information.

GoPro this week announced that it’s upgrading its entry-level action camera with a shiny new touchscreen. This will allow users to frame up shots and review footage without the need of a second device, such as a smartphone or laptop. It’s called the GoPro Hero+ LCD.  The GoPro Hero+ LCD will be available on July 12 and will retail from AUD$429.
