Life & Technology – 2GB 28th February, 2016

I’ve spent the majority of this week in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress, and I saw some pretty amazing new devices!

Chinese manufacturer Huawei is best known for its Android smartphones, but in a bit of a twist, the company is taking on the likes of Microsoft and Apple with a two-in-one Windows 10 notebook. Read more about this here.

LG is just one of the many companies who announced a new flagship smartphone this week, but the LG G5 is one certainly one of the most interesting. I had a chat to LG Australia Mobile Marketing Manager Bruce Leigh about the company’s new “modular” smartphone.

Alcatel unveiled a number of new smartphones this week, from super affordable to semi-premium. This I spoke with Alcatel Australia Managing Director Sam Skontos to get the lowdown on the new product line. The Idol 4 is one of the most interesting phones in the family, and you can read about it here.

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge don’t just bring back fan favourite features, they pave the wave for the company’s new mobile ecosystem. I a chat with Samsung Australia Vice President of IT and Mobile Prasad Gokhale about the new phones and the bigger picture. The phones are both available for preorder now, and we've got a pricing and plan round up here!

Looking back at Australia, Qantas will start to deploy high-speed internet to its domestic fleet from 2017.

Telstra and Vodafone are patching up holes in mobile coverage across regional and rural Australia. Between the two, 78 new towers will go up around the middle of this year. Here’s the list.
